Flutu produced Tula Tania’s Porque Me Maltrata (Why Do You Hurt Me?), combining Brazilian roots with dembow, reggaeton and Latin-pop production.

THE PROJECT

A GENRE-BENDING SINGLE BUILT AROUND TULA TANIA'S IDENTITY

Tula Tania, a Brazilian jazz singer from the Amazon, commissioned Flutu to produce Porque Me Maltrata, also presented as Why Do You Hurt Me?.
The production widened the song’s palette without trying to replace the artist’s identity. Brazilian musical roots stayed central while dembow, reggaeton and Latin-pop elements changed the groove and framing around the vocal.

Writing, production, mix and master were handled as one process so the genre blend could develop without losing the character of the artist.

MUSIC PRODUCTION

Flutu shaped the production around the tension between Brazilian roots and contemporary Latin-pop rhythm rather than forcing one style to dominate the other.

LYRICS & ARRANGEMENT

Lyrics and arrangement choices supported the crossover while keeping Tula Tania’s phrasing and identity at the center of the song.

MIXING & MASTERING

The final mix and master preserved the vocal character while giving the rhythm section and low end the weight expected from the contemporary production.
