Game Audio Companies Awards: The Final Exam at LIA 2025

Flutu Game Audio Studio

The London International Awards stage of The Final Exam’s award run, and what the category spread says about the project as an interactive campaign.

At the London International Awards 2025, The Final Exam received 5 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze awards, plus 3 finalist placements. Webcore’s project record lists recognition across Ambient & Activation, Creativity in PR, Digital, Evolution, Health & Wellness and Branded Entertainment. The complete LIA breakdown is documented in the project case.

That spread is the reason this result deserves its own page.

LIA did not recognize The Final Exam as one narrow piece of craft.

It recognized the project across activation, PR, digital experience, health and branded entertainment.

Audio had to work inside all of those layers.

The LIA 2025 Results

The Final Exam received:

  • 5x Gold: Ambient & Activation (1) \| Creativity in PR (3) \| Digital (1)
  • 5x Silver: Ambient & Activation (1) \| Digital (2) \| Evolution (1) \| Health & Wellness (1)
  • 3x Bronze: Ambient & Activation (2) \| Branded Entertainment (1)
  • 3x Finalist

The project was created for Change the Ref by Energy BBDO Chicago, with game development by Webcore Games, gaming work by DRUID Creative Gaming and game audio by Flutu Music.

The award list looks broad because the project itself was broad.

It was a game.

A campaign.

An advocacy tool.

A digital experience.

And an attempt to make a difficult subject understandable through interaction.

Why the Health & Wellness Recognition Matters

The Final Exam deals directly with gun violence in schools.

That means the work carries a responsibility that does not exist in a fictional shooter.

The goal is not to create an exciting combat loop.

The goal is to confront the player with the reality of surviving a school shooting and connect that experience to legislation that could help prevent similar events.

Webcore’s case describes the game as a survival experience based on real data from past incidents, with environmental elements including sounds and alarms carefully recreated to support the scenario. The case also credits Flutu Music for Game Audio.

That context changes every creative decision.

A sound can be too dramatic.

A score can explain too much.

A weapon can become too entertaining.

The production needs restraint.

Ambient & Activation Is an Interesting Category for Game Audio

Four of the LIA awards came from Ambient & Activation categories: one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze.

That is relevant because game audio is fundamentally spatial and behavioral.

The player does not experience sound from one fixed camera.

They move through space.

They approach and leave sources.

They hear events from different directions.

They enter and exit danger.

A strong audio system supports the activation by making the environment respond coherently to that movement.

Sound tells the player where they are.

What is close.

What is far.

What is happening outside the frame.

Whether the environment is safe.

The game becomes the medium.

Audio helps the medium behave.

Creativity in PR Shows the Idea Had to Survive Outside the Game Too

The project received three Gold awards in Creativity in PR.

That means the interactive experience had to do more than function as gameplay.

It had to communicate a public issue clearly enough to travel into a broader conversation.

The audio team sits inside that responsibility.

If the sound pushes the player toward spectacle, the campaign message weakens.

If the environment feels artificial, the experience loses credibility.

If important information is masked by the mix, the communication fails.

This is why audio direction for branded and advocacy games cannot begin with “make it cinematic.”

It begins with intent.

Digital Recognition Rewards the System, Not the Asset

The Final Exam also received one Gold and two Silver awards in Digital.

A digital game experience is judged through interaction.

The system needs to work under different player behavior.

The player can stop.

Backtrack.

Miss a cue.

Move through the environment at the wrong pace.

Trigger something earlier than expected.

Audio still has to make sense.

That requires implementation, not only design.

The trigger matters.

The attenuation matters.

The priority matters.

The timing matters.

The sound is only real when it works in the build.

LIA Fits Into a Larger Recognition Pattern

The Final Exam also received major recognition at Cannes Lions, The One Show, Clios and D&AD.

The One Show is useful as independent confirmation of how widely the project crossed creative disciplines. Its 2025 results include Gaming, Innovation, Public Relations, Experiential & Immersive, Craft and other categories, with Flutu Music included in the credited team. The One Show results are available here.

But this page should remain about LIA.

For the One Show stage specifically, see The One Show Awards: Final Exam Wins Big.

For the Cannes result, see Cannes Lions Awards: The Final Exam Wins 2 Gold and 5 Bronze Lions.

What the LIA Result Says About Interactive Production

The category spread is the real story.

PR.

Health.

Digital.

Activation.

Branded entertainment.

The same project needed to work in all of them.

That happens when the disciplines are not solving isolated problems.

The concept informs the mechanic.

The mechanic informs the audio.

The audio supports the environment.

The environment carries the message.

The campaign gives the whole thing a reason to exist.

No department gets to disappear into its own folder.

Next Step

If you are producing an interactive campaign, serious game or branded game where the project needs to work across creative, technical and communication goals, define the audio role at the same time as the gameplay role.

Explore Flutu’s game-audio work or send us the project structure if you want to discuss sound design, technical audio and implementation inside that kind of production.
